| Hi! We are Cliff and Linda and we want to thank you for taking the time to learn more about us, our family and our desire to adopt.
In The Beginning
We met in the dorms during our second year of college together. We dated throughout the rest of college and during our senior year, Cliff proposed to Linda over dinner in a very nice restaurant. We married a year and a half after graduation from college at the same church where Linda grew up. It was a beautiful wedding given to us by Linda’s parents.
Our Children
We were excited and surprised to learn that we were going to be parents for the first time! We decided it was time to get into a house and we moved and purchased our first home with the help of Linda’s family. We gave birth to our first beautiful daughter and named her Melanie. After Melanie was born, Linda was able to be a stay home mom. Melanie became a big sister sixteen months later when our second daughter, Sabrina. Our son, Paul was welcomed by his very excited parents and two loving sisters a couple of years later..
Our children have been our biggest blessing and our proudest accomplishment. We are so proud of all they have done and all the promise that they hold for their future! They are very happy, bright and confident children who love their family and friends and are secure in the fact that they are loved as well.
Melanie, Sabrina and Paul are very friendly children who enjoy and get along well with kids of all ages and truly adore babies. They are aware of and included in our adoption plans and are very excited to welcome a new brother or sister into their family. We feel that we have a wonderful arrangement to offer a new baby as Linda is an experienced stay at home mom. With the children in school most of the day, she will be able to devote full time care to an infant. In addition to Linda and Cliff’s attention, the baby will also have the attention, stimulation and entertainment of three fun loving, caring older siblings.
Our Faith
Our faith has always been important to us but it really blossomed after having our children. We became very active in our neighborhood Christian church and this is where we became passionately involved in ministering to children. Linda began by volunteering as a Sunday School teacher and over the course of a few years became director of the Sunday School program of over 150 children each week as well as directing the Vacation Bible School program each summer for over 400 children. Cliff worked in the nursery while our children were babies and played guitar for the Sunday school children as well as in the church band. Through our work in ministering to children, we came to love the children of our church as our own. When we moved to North Carolina, it was very hard to leave behind our church family and visit whenever we can. We have found a new church home here in North Carolina and continue to serve in the same volunteer ministries that we enjoy so much.
Along with bringing our children up in the Christian faith, we also believe in teaching our children about serving and caring for others. One way we do this is through the Operation Christmas Child program where children fill shoeboxes with small gifts and hygiene items for children in need throughout the world. This is a program that Linda has been involved with for many years. We introduced this program to our neighborhood families here in NC and as a group, the neighborhood children assembled over 50 boxes for this program at Christmastime this past year right in our garage!
Our Family
Cliff and Linda grew up out west Cliff was the youngest of four children. He was adopted by his parents when he was a baby and knows first hand about adoption. Cliff’s parents also adopted his sister Pamela when she was a young teen. Cliff comes from a very strong, loving, warm and supportive family and continues to enjoy a close relationship with his family and cousins. Cliff works in the high-tech field and in his spare time enjoys playing guitar, watching movies, playing basketball and reading. He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
Linda grew up with her younger brother in a small town suburb. She and her brother grew up with parents who provided a loving and supportive home life. Linda continues to enjoy a close relationship with her family, cousins and many friends. Linda is a full time mom and in her spare time, she enjoys playing with the kids, walking the family dog, reading and hanging out on the porch with neighbors and friends.
We feel so fortunate to be able to grow together in our relationship and gather strength from our experiences and life together.
Our Home
We live in a five bedroom, four bathroom home on 1.5 acres in a very diverse and kid-filled cul-de-sac. Our neighborhood is full of children of all ages. In fact, three babies were born in the last year! It is fun to see our children play everyday with the dozen or more school aged children who live right in our cul-de-sac. Our home is known throughout the neighborhood as the “kid house’ as there are always friends over doing homework and playing after school!
Our kids love to spend their time outside riding scooters and bikes, playing on our tire swing and hammock, playing basketball or just making up an adventure story in the woods. During the summer, the kids love to swim and hang-out at the neighborhood pool. The kids also like to spend time inside reading, watching movies and playing computer and video games.
The newest addition to our family has been our dog Roxie. She has been with us for a year and is a four year old Golden Lab. She has a sweet and mellow disposition and loves to get belly rubs whenever she can, especially from the twin toddler girls up the street who visit her almost every day.
We’re Off!
We have always been a family on the move! We really enjoy traveling to see family and friends and also visiting and exploring new places. We usually take two trips to the west coast each year to visit our family and friends. Since we have lived in North Carolina, we have really enjoyed exploring the East coast and have taken trips to New York and Washington DC and have made several trips to various beaches along the Atlantic coast. The past two summers, we have all enjoyed dipping our toes in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans!
We have also been on many camping, hiking and ski trips as a family. We have also had the opportunity to take some great trips to Hawaii and the Midwest as well as trips to Legoland, Great America and Disneyland. Now that we are on the East coast, we look forward to a trip to Disneyworld.
Our Adoption
We have been blessed with three happy and healthy children and yet we have plenty of room in our hearts and in our lives to love and parent more children. For several years, we have been preparing for adoption. We decided to wait until our children were a little older and in school before adopting so that we could devote more time to an infant. We also moved into a larger home in a relaxed, kid-filled neighborhood with a much bigger yard and better neighborhood schools. Our desire to adopt comes from the fact that we simply love children, love parenting and we want to provide a loving, nurturing and supportive family and home to a child who needs one.
