We are Melissa, Chris and Kate. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and our desires to adopt. We can’t wait to expand our family through adoption!

About Us

We met in college through mutual friends and were also lab partners in the same class. We have been married for nine years and dated for seven years prior to marriage. Much of our seven years dating was “long distance”. This allowed both of us to finish our education. We had a beautiful wedding even though the seven year and the seventeen year locusts were both swarming at our reception in the 98 degree heat in May.

Chris is a professor and loves teaching. His schedule is great because it is very flexible with summers and holidays off. Chris’s desire to teach comes through with our daughter as he loves to watch her learn. He is a great father which is evident when one watches him play with our daughter. Melissa is a physician and has been able to limit her hours. She works part time in order to spend more time with our daughter. Melissa loves her job and helping others.

We have been blessed with a five year old daughter, Kate. Kate is quite an amazing child, intelligent and full of life. She can’t wait to be a big sister and is very nurturing and loves to take care of younger children. We love to travel and spend time as a family. We have been lucky enough to be able to travel and give our daughter a lot of wonderful new experiences and can’t wait to share these experiences with another child.

Our Families

Both Chris and Melissa are the youngest of 4 children. We were both born in the same city in Kansas and we both come from stable and loving families. Chris’s parents just celebrated their 50 th anniversary and Melissa’s parents celebrated their 45 th anniversary! We see our families often even though they live out of state. Our families are always willing to come out and help whenever needed. We both have a lot of nieces and nephews! Melissa’s parents even get all of the grandchildren together for a week for the “Farm tour.” The kids all love it and look forward to the week every summer. The parents stay and enjoy the fun also. We go camping, to amusement parks, swimming and mostly just play with all of the children! Our families are all supportive of our decision to adopt and can’t wait to have another little one to play with and love.

Our Home

Our home is surrounded by mountains, but we are only a few minutes from downtown. Both of us have only a short commute to work which is great. We are close enough to everything but we still feel like we live in the country since we are surrounded by trees. Our community pool is only a couple of minutes away, which is where we can be found almost every day during the summer. Another member of our family is our extremely tolerant and loving cat, Callie.

About Adoption

We discussed adoption even prior to our marriage. We knew that conceiving a child would be difficult. We were blessed to have one child biologically and now would like to fulfill our dreams of a larger family through adoption. Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and to consider us for the enormous responsibility and joy that raising a child brings. We can not imagine what a difficult time it has been these last several months for you and admire you for being able to make such a selfless decision. We feel we have a lot to offer a child and can’t wait for the chance.
