Hi! We’re Brian and Susan. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and our desire to have a family through adoption.

How We Met

We met through a mutual friend. This friend invited us over for dinner and to watch the movie the Goonies. We’ve been together ever since and still have a copy of that movie as a memento!

We both have fun-loving personalities and enjoy surprising each other. We were married in an old plantation house with plenty of family and friends in attendance. We enjoyed a Caribbean cruise a couple of weeks later for our honeymoon.

About Us

Brian and I were both born and raised along the Gulf Coast, but have lived in North Carolina most of our adult lives. We enjoy taking advantage of the beautiful mountains and beaches and like active vacations, such as white water rafting, snow skiing, or wave riding. We also have traveled to California, Colorado, London, Paris, and Canada and can’t wait to share our love of discovery with a new addition to our family.

Brian works in the field of Education and Susan works in computers. We both have flexible work schedules and can work from home whenever necessary. Our goal is to adjust our schedules as much as possible, so that we can be at home with the baby and not use day care.

For Fun

Brian spends his free time reading or is involved in coaching. Susan spends her free time writing, scrap booking, and enjoying nature programs offered at nearby parks. We both love to cook and usually host a seafood boil for friends and neighbors every year. We also enjoy attending football and basketball games -- either at the college or professional level. A number of our friends have small children, so we know there will be plenty of playmates nearby. Everyone is as excited as we are about planning play dates and new adventures for the kids.

Our Home

We live in a beautiful, child-friendly neighborhood that is heavily wooded with a gorgeous city park and lake close-by. Walking trails, fishing docks, canoe rentals, and swing sets are just a quick trip out the door of our two-story home. We have three bedrooms and a nursery already prepared for a little one to join us. Our back yard has plenty of space to run and explore with our two sweet dogs -- Missy and Gumbeaux. They love playing with the neighborhood kids and enjoy chasing squirrels (although they never catch them)!

Our Family

Susan’s parents died before she was 20, so she is very close to her older brother and sisters, who all still live where they grew up. Brian was raised by his mother and maternal grandmother and has a step-sister and brother who live out of state. We travel home at least once or twice a year to spend quality time with family--especially around the holidays or for family events. We typically vacation once a year with some of our siblings and their kids. We have eight nieces and nephews between us, with three children joining the family through adoption!

About Adoption

Brian and I struggled with infertility for years, but eventually gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. However, she was born with a fatal lung condition and only survived 10 days. We are thrilled at the prospect of being able to now build a family through adoption. We have so much love we want to share with a child and plan to do all that we can to nurture your little one in a caring home. We deeply respect your selfless decision to consider an adoption plan. We understand how difficult this must be for you, so please know that your child will always be aware of your deep love and your unwavering sacrifice. Thank you for considering us as potential parents.
