E. Parker Herring
Attorney
Parker is a board certified family law specialist and Raleigh native who has practiced in Wake County for fourteen years. She is a 1975 graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill and a 1985 graduate of the Wake Forest School of Law. Parker and her husband Steve have three children -- two of whom are adopted and one who was born with the help of advanced fertility treatments. She is founder and the managing member of the law firm of Herring Mills & Kratt, PLLC |

Bobby D. Mills
Attorney
Bobby is a board certified family law specialist and a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. He is a1982 graduate of the UNC-Asheville and a 1985 graduate of the Wake Forest School of Law. He limits his practice to family law and adoption. |

Corine Medlin
Paralegal
Corine is a paralegal that has worked in the legal field in Raleigh for about 15 years. She joined Herring McBennett in September of 2000 and assists with the processing of private adoptions and family law. She lives in Benson with her husband Hal, their dog Missey and cat Rosco. |

Kelley Smith
Paralegal
Kelley received her undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho studying history & political science. She graduated from Meredith College with her paralegal certification in May 2005 and has been working as a paralegal for Herring McBennett since 2004, assisting in adoption work & business litigation. She has lived in Raleigh for 11 years & participates in various athletics on a regular basis as well as being an avid reader.

Kathy E. Massey
Agency Coordinator and Profile Artist
Kathy is a graduate of NC State University's School of Design. She has been creating profiles for our adoptive parents since January 2005 and has worked in the agency office since January 2006. She is the mother of two daughters, and has lived in the Raleigh area for the past 20 years. Kathy also volunteers her time to several local non profits and enjoys outdoor activities. |
Adoption Counselors
We have trained and compassionate adoption counselors located throughout the state of North Carolina to meet and counsel our birthparents and adoptive couples to facilitate the adoption process before and after placement.

Kim Walls - Adoption Supervisor
Kim Walls is a native of Johnston County, North Carolina. She graduated from East Carolina University with a Master of Social Work in 1998 and has been working full time in adoptions since January 2000. She has extensive experience with all types of adoptions, working with birthmothers and adoptive parents, and has completed numerous domestic and international home studies. Her experience includes work with several private adoption agencies and with the Department of Social Services. Kim lives in Selma with her husband Rudy and their two daughters, Keri and Kamryn. |

Martine Powell
Martine received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology (Social Welfare) from Winston-Salem State University. She earned a Master's degree in Conflict Resolution from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has more than twelve years of experience working with children, adolescents and families. She resides in Winston-Salem with her husband Derrick and their son Carter. She enjoys reading, shopping, traveling and spending time with the two favorite men in her life. |

Karen Mulkern Palko
Boston-born, Karen earned an undergraduate degree in Spanish from Bridgewater State University and a Master's degree in criminal justice from The University of Massachusetts-Lowell. In her career in human services she has been employed in a variety of roles, including social worker, project coordinator for troubled youths, and probation officer. She lives with her husband and their two children in the Raleigh area. |

Marlisa Mills
A native Ashevillian, Marlisa received her undergraduate degree from UNC and her MSW from the University of Georgia. With 25 years experience, she has worked with all areas of social work and has had a private practice for many years. She is a proud mother and grandmother and shares her Black Mountain home with "sixteen furry feet." |

Mariana Huet
While Spanish is Mariana's first language, Mariana did her undergrad psychology studies at Ohio State. She has more than eight years experience in adoptions and birthmother counseling. She currently lives in Raleigh with her husband and 11 year old son. |

Maria Matias
Maria earned her undergraduate and Masters Degree from Buffalo State College. Maria speaks Spanish and has over 15 years experience in the field of social work and will be working with our Hispanic birthmothers. Maria lives in Charlotte with her husband and three children. |

Charmeine Turner
Charmeine earned her social work degree from Barton College and is retired from the United States Air Force. Charmeine lives in Goldsboro with her adopted daughter and two sons. |
